A STRONG ALTERNATIVE TO SYRUPY BAKLAVA: HONEY-DRIZZLED DRY BAKLAVA

HONEY DRY BAKLAVA

The irresistible taste of syrup baklava, one of the proud staples of Turkish cuisine, is well-known… But have you ever tried dry baklava before?

Baklava, a legendary delicacy, is a sensitive point for Turkish people and one of the rare delights of Turkish cuisine... So much so that it even has its own unique eating method; a slice of baklava is placed whole on the tongue and pressed against the palate. This way, the syrup spreads throughout the mouth, followed by the crispy pastry accompanying this flavor. It's enjoyable just to imagine, isn't it?

However, there's also the refined sugar aspect, which alone is enough to spoil all this pleasure. Still, for those who say, "Tables, especially holiday tables, are never complete without baklava!", honey dry baklava comes to the rescue. With its crispy pastry and delicious filling, this dessert has a taste equivalent to syrup baklava, and thanks to not containing refined sugar, it can be consumed with peace of mind. Moreover, it's quite practical to make!

2. HOW TO MAKE HONEY DRY BAKLAVA?

The honey dry baklava recipe, which can be prepared in a short time with few ingredients, is both a spectacular and practical dessert alternative for unexpected guests. Moreover, in this recipe, there is no room for questions like "How to make honey baklava syrup?" or "Will I get the consistency right?". Because in this recipe, honey directly takes on the role of "honey baklava syrup"!

2.1. PREPARATION PHASE

  • Spread one sheet of phyllo dough on the counter and brush it with a little tahini or melted butter, as preferred. (If you want to increase the sweetness of your baklava, you can also spread honey between the phyllo sheets at this stage.)

  • Then sprinkle pistachios or walnuts on the phyllo and cover it with another layer of phyllo.

  • Continue this process, using a total of four sheets of phyllo.

  • After creating the fourth layer, roll these stacked phyllo sheets inwards from their long edge to form a roll.

  • Cut this roll into six or seven pieces with a sharp knife.

  • Apply the same steps to the remaining four phyllo sheets, one by one.

2.2. BAKING AND SERVING PHASE

  • Lay parchment paper on the baking tray and arrange the prepared baklava slices on it.

  • Bake the baklava in a preheated oven at 180°C.

  • Continue baking for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Don't forget to check occasionally to prevent burning.

  • Wait for 10-15 minutes for the initial heat of your dry baklava to dissipate after removing it from the oven, then add Balparmak Meadow Flower Honey and serve.

May it add a taste of honey to your tea conversations, enjoy...
